About

Introduction

I believe the foundations of a just society are built in classrooms. My work is dedicated to transforming education systems to make that a reality.
I am an educator, reformer, and movement builder focused on strengthening inclusive education systems. Through training, research, and dialogue, I collaborate with institutions and policymakers to promote inclusive teaching, advance Universal Design for Learning, and strengthen safeguarding systems.
My work sits at the intersection of education, restorative justice, and safeguarding

My Journey: Where do Harms Begin?

For many years, I worked in the field of restorative justice and peacebuilding. Through that work, I encountered individuals and communities who had experienced harm, conflict, and exclusion. Much of the effort in justice systems focuses on repairing harm after it has already occurred.

Over time, I began asking a deeper question: Where do these harms begin?

As I reflected on this question, I increasingly saw that many social challenges that societies try to address later through legal systems have roots much earlier in life.

Schools are often the first institutions where children encounter authority, fairness, participation, and belonging.
For some children, school becomes a place where curiosity and confidence grow. For others, it can become a place where they experience exclusion, labeling, or misunderstanding.

This realization gradually shifted the focus of my work.

Today, much of my work focuses on strengthening inclusive education systems and supporting educators in creating classrooms where all children feel valued and supported.

The Four Pillars of My Work

Inclusive Education

I work with educators and schools to develop teaching approaches that support learners with diverse abilities, backgrounds, and learning styles.

Universal Design for Learning

I promote approaches that design learning environments flexible enough to support all learners, rather than expecting children to adapt to rigid systems.

Safeguarding in Education

I support schools and institutions in developing policies and practices that ensure children are protected from harm and able to learn in safe environments.

Restorative Justice and Peacebuilding

My work continues to draw on restorative approaches that focus on repairing harm, strengthening relationships, and building more compassionate communities.

Impact Today: Advancing Inclusive Education in Nepal

I currently work to advance inclusive education in Nepal through:

  • Supporting teachers in developing inclusive teaching practices.
  • Promoting Universal Design for Learning in schools.
  • Strengthening safeguarding systems in educational institutions.
  • Building networks that connect educators, organizations, and policymakers.

A Guiding Belief

I believe the foundations of a just society are built in classrooms. My work is dedicated to transforming education systems to make that a reality

When people think about justice, they often think of courts, laws, and punishment. Yet long before individuals encounter these institutions, they experience environments that shape their sense of dignity and belonging.
For many children, school is where these experiences begin.

When classrooms are inclusive and supportive, they nurture confidence, empathy, and participation. When they exclude or marginalize, they can contribute to the early formation of inequality.
For this reason, I believe that building inclusive education systems is not only an educational priority but also a societal responsibility.

Justice begins in classrooms.

Let's Build a More Just Classroom

The work of building compassionate, inclusive, and just societies begins in classrooms. If you share this belief and are passionate about systems change, I would be glad to connect.
